“You Can Start Over At Any Time”: Lessons in Resilience with AEW’s Aubrey Edwards
Posted by AJ MartofelWe recently had the incredible opportunity to sit down with AEW referee, trailblazer, and longtime supporter of SCIFE, Aubrey Edwards. ✨
In this honest conversation, Aubrey shared her journey from classical ballet and video game development to becoming one of the few full-time professional wrestling referees in the world. Through vulnerability and humor, she opened up about managing anxiety, finding ways to disconnect from the chaos, and why setting boundaries (especially around social media) is essential for mental health.
Aubrey’s story reminds us that starting over isn’t something to fear — it’s something to embrace. Her path wasn’t linear, but every twist and turn led her closer to a life aligned with her passions and values.
Whether she’s refereeing major pay-per-view matches, building safer spaces through AEW Heels, or tending to oyster farms for some much-needed peace, Aubrey shows that self-care is about listening to yourself — and honoring your needs, no matter what.
Some takeaways we loved:
🌟 It's okay to start again, even when it’s scary.
🌟 Community matters — finding "your people" is a powerful form of self-care.
🌟 Protect your peace on social media; you don’t owe strangers your energy.
🌟 Wrestling (and life) are better when everyone feels seen and welcomed.
We're endlessly grateful to Aubrey for her heart, wisdom, and the example she sets every time she steps into the ring.
