MEET OUR ARTISTS

Natalie Dormady

Hi there! My name is Natalie and I’m from Burlington, Ontario! It’s so nice to meet you! :) I began doodling and writing gentle reminders about 3 years ago while I was receiving support for an eating disorder. Art quickly became a really important part of my recovery journey, and still very much is today. Doodling clouds with rain and rainbows reminds me that storms will pass and the sun will come back. Doodling mountains with friendly faces and flowers with buzzing bumblebees brings me a lot of joy, and it is my hope that it can also bring some light and comfort to others.

How did you start making art that empowers people?

Art has been a really important part throughout my recovery journey. When I was struggling with my mental health, I found art to be safe, and comforting. Doodling rainbows reminds me that storms end, and the light will return. Drawing flowers and bumblebee’s remind me of how important we each are in this world. I share my doodles with the hopes of reminding people that they are not alone in this fight. I hope my doodles can bring you some light.

What do you do to self-care?

Recently for self care, at the end of the day I’ve been putting my phone on silent and I'll leave it in a different room. I’ll grab a cozy blanket, make myself a nice cup of tea and watch a movie (currently watching Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire). I find myself looking forward to this throughout the day. It really has been helping me calm down and relax. By having my phone on silent and in a different room, I’m able to be present and have some time to myself :)
